Barbecue time...again

Today we had another barbecue at work. I brought Calico Beans. I have never made the dish before. I packed all the components into my backpack and hopped onto my bike. Thankfully my bike behaved itself very nicely. I really didn't want to have trouble with 20lbs of stuff in my backpack. When I got into work I got them cooking. Everybody loved them. Yeah! I have some leftover to feed Taka tonight. Amanda brought some red velvet oatmeal cookies and a very decadent chocolate mocha cake. Later tonight I am meeting up with Taka and we are meeting up with my Dad who is downtown and is willing to give us a ride home. I have some cake and cookies for both of them.

Today I got the lecture notes for my classes. I was talking to Pete, my Entomology Professor, after class. I asked if I could get the handouts that I missed. We walked back to his office and on route he said that I shouldn't worry about what he said in class because he takes the test questions from the lecture notes he hands out. I said, "I really don't want to miss class though, because then I miss your fun stories." He laughed and said "I guess there is an up and down side to everything." He's a pretty cool guy. Takes everyone's questions during class very seriously and if he can't answer them then he makes sure he gets an answer within a couple of class periods. Had our second quiz in Biochem and I think I did really well on it. The really cool thing about this week so for is that I got in touch with my friend Tom again. He is doing an internship out in Pennsylvania. I am happy that he got back to me. I miss having classes with him. I do have Biochem with Megan who is pretty cool, and Entomology with Jason, whom I know from Hort club. Well now it is off to Entomology lab. Bugs!!!

School...

I don't think I mentioned that I have an Agricultural Biochemistry class and an Entomology class. I like both of my professors so far. They both seem very approachable. I overslept yesterday and missed both of my classes. I am not happy that I did that, but that is life. I will get notes tomorrow in class. I don't have any classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays so they are long days at work. Since school started two weeks ago I haven't been on my bike at all. So today I got up and biked in. I remembered how to bike but apparently my bike forgot how to. The chain fell off 3 times. then I had troubles with the back wheel on the way home. Once that seemed fixed all went well. It was a really good day to bike. This nice weather is going to keep me biking. I felt really good when I was biking so I want to keep trying to do it as long as the weather will let me.

Two weeks...

Wow! The first two weeks of school just flew by. This past Saturday Taka and I had our 1st Annual Corn Roast. Despite the rain it was a big success. Much corn was eaten, but we still had a ton left. Cool things that happened - co-worker Amanda hung around until Midnight. - Dave helped shut us down at 2am, plus he is into work today so that means he didn't kill himself going home. (I worry about him) - Carl our neighbor came over and stayed 'til the end. He is a pretty cool guy. - got to meet some of Taka's Architecture friends. - Heidi stopped by with her new husband and 9 week old daughter. (so tiny and beautiful) - Thom and son Twain stopped by. It has been almost 7 years since we've seen them. - Craig and Eric were able to reconnect after a decade or so apart. - we bought a crazy, kick-ass new grill. 72,000 btu's baby! 15 huge ears of corn at once! shiny silver grilling goodness. - stopped raining so we could have a bonfire. - great to see everyone who was able to show up. I think that maybe next year we will have to do it before fest so that we can see some of those who couldn't make it. Sunday Taka had to work so I suggested when I dropped him off that I grill up a bunch more corn and bring it in for students. He loved that idea. So I grilled up 72 more ears of corn and the students at Architecture were happy. Sunday I also spent part of the rainy day baking. I took photos to post of the yumminess. Today back to the grind.

Hello...

The new semester has begun. I have two classes and Taka has three. Two weeks ago Taka started work again. Of course his boss is being a major ass, but I am not going to go into it. Too much time has already been wasted on this subject. Not to mention, it is Taka who has to deal with it, not me. He can complain as much as he wants, but I think that he has decided to move on as well. I figure my efforts should be put into helping Taka forget about the fucker, and that is what I will work on. The really nice thing is that 1) the semester has started so Taka won't have to deal with him as much and 2) next week Taka will get his first paycheck in three months. Hurray!!! The last three weeks, I biked in three days each week. Last Friday I set a new record getting into work. 36 minutes from home to work. Woohoo!!! I don't have any classes on Tuesdays or Thursdays, so I thought that it would be good for me to try to keep biking those days. Today I biked in. I think that I was on my way to 36 minutes or better (not to mention I was going to beat the rain) until my chain fell off. It took me a while to get it back on. That really sucked. I was still able to beat the rain. So far it looks like it will be a dry ride home. It is cloudy but it is tough to tell if it is going to rain or not. At least I will be going home.
